Radio phone-in competitions were once such a regular occurance that that was pretty much all the phone was used for. Then Ugly Phil went off to the UK and the prizes stopped being offered and the house got a little more relaxed, less stressed. That was 1999. 2001 and now on a new radio station the phonecalls are no longer free. Rather, they are charged at the local rate. But seeing as the competitions are as infrequent as a fibre glass meal, that really doesn't make a difference.
At around 17:40, Nova ran a skit spoken in ye olde english, just for effect, easy pickings, they where clueing for Wheel of Fortune and earlier it was for Big Brother. On the line were double passes to some Shakespeare based digest play. Ninty-seven minutes of the bard's work compressed into one huge show. Just Shoot Me was the bad guess by Renee, the other caller I was competing against. No competition. I won the tickets after a belated and rushed cough on air. Off air, the pleasantly voiced girl started on about how the prize tickets were for the 9pm session tonight, out somewhere in Penrith. A little, "uh..Penrith?" from me and she hung up the phone. Guess I couldn't make it.
