Calories and galloping, collapsing capillaries

Days in and out from the sun, well within the boundaries of the compound. Long overdue for a break to step outside. Outside of the inside where the other side takes a train ride. Taking that trek hobbling thighs and splintering ankles to sigh with the tense pressure of work beyond the path between the glare and cistern.

Another day, another do, another drag of legs no longer working to full capacity. Power walk a gentle stride no quicker than stepping away or getting up to click the knee caps. How long ago the strain of distant walks between doors far apart with the bleating rebound of cement, bitumen and grass to tread moderate steps?

Long enough to leave nothing left in legs of breath.
