Fooled a couple of weeks back by the neutered Partition Zapper, the hunt was on for a better partition wiping program. Spotted within the comments on Download.com, a reference to what other reviewers saw as a better product and as free as a naked man. A quick zip over lines and mbrtool was spreading its way across the other disks used at the compound. Now hard disks can be confidently left formatted without the incessant notice of a "kernel boot failure" or some such "mounting error" from a Red Hat no longer used in the plan.
