Figuring things would be like any other—suicidal and repetitive—sizzles of the eardrum lasted beyond the initial second full of impact. Fanoodling switched and levers, connection to one of the power supplies met with an incorrect voltage. Expecting the moderate 230 volts the juice was sent into the box awaiting the arrival of 130. With a bright white flash and electrifying pop, the rings were on their way into the bloodstream. Left feeling a little blinded and a little deaf, the pen in hand took a little jump down a little crack of towers. Disorientation hummed the faint hint of bleeding eardrums and severed membranes.
Yesterday, at another station, the power supply of a computer worked on by another started smoking like a well-honed chainer. Thick and collected, the smoke gently rose toward the ceiling searching vainly for a sprinkler system not installed.
