- In case of fire, remain toasted, nicely toasted
A split-second lapse of sight resulted in a whole half-hour spent looking down the sink. I left the two pens in the laundry at the moment the waste water was being flushed out of the washer. Within a few spins around the ring of the grate, they were gone! At first I tried to pinch them out with tweezers, that was a no-go - almost lost that down the s-bend as well. Went looking for some pliable wire, no luck, seems I cleaned that out last year. Things of little value and use are stashed all over the place and never get a second look until you need to use them after you've thrown them out. Don't know why it's in the house, but some weird kebab poker fished the red pen out - with a little help from the tweezer that was now lassooed with dental floss from the night before. That's day one gone. Tomorrow sees the blue pen being rescued from the murky depths of slime and detergent offwash.
