Giselle at the Parramatta Riverside Theatres

Theatrics

Tight edge on time is ten minutes or so after the schedule. Early and late looking for all black only needing to stay all beige. On the edge of the Riverside Theatre finds a new plus one to rid a ticket to. It's all perfunctory and utilitarian these excursions. Cause to an end and all that, a side effect being the addition of a new name to call upon in the ever drying times outside the perimeter.

Food on the face is a spicy Italian sub dripping copious amounts of sweet chilli on the crackle of a foot long Italian herb and cheese. No catch on the lungs with the walk and sparse talk eating out the capacity. Bank on the river is close enough to a rest area and a hike back up the street lights slowly brings the air to the head.

Ballet is mute theatre and Giselle is no different. Only major change here, unread before a glimpse at the programme, is that the age of the cast ranges 12 to 17 years old.

Stunning display of skill from the young set. Only a few trip ups and hiccoughs hitting the stage. One or two finding the pressure of it all getting to their ankles. Only for a slight and it's back to the beat. They call up on such a diverse range of movements that the intensity and emotion strings out the leotards.

A story of love and revenge in two parts that still plays a bit on the hard side of life.
