Pushing back the time of play, the audience coordinator from Freehand TV promises nothing and delivers just a little more than the chance of understanding. Filming, as they have unexpectedly allotted time for, runs over course and they do deals to shift people around.
No Dr Pepper behind the bar. No sarsaparilla even. Free glasses of lemon squash the only recourse after a shabby shank of chicken with chips that cannot hold onto pepper well. 80s rock band Black Sorrows play in the gaming area of Star City as they film the show around players playing cards.
The revolt and exodus within minutes of each other making things seriously quite hard to endure with much respect. A promising proposition that a pert and bottle blonde escort makes the difference between the viewing area in front of host Adam Spencer and watching the backs of the comedians playing cards is a slippery notion to grasp.
Throwing down chips and hands with scores of tension and pause, the time drags on and on. Entertainment is a self-serve affair. Watching the actions and inactions of those left in the Wild Turkey graces grants a fine battlefield for the honing of quips, one liners and acerbic barbs.
Exhaustion and satisfaction comes not from the passive act of watching. It comes from the mind revving and riffing dozens on dozens of lines and comments in a wry and dry fashion.
All before the sleep walk home.
