Thanks to not having a connection to a mobile phone, not remembering a certain phone number, turning up late at the rendezvous point and being at the wrong rendezvous point, it was only due to sheer timing and unbelievable luck that walking up to door fifteen of the Entertainment Centre caught up with the friend holding the tickets.
Just in time too, tip-off was just about to start the game, but not before an aboriginal band, The Donovans, strummed the national anthem. Apart from a few patches around the place, it was a decent crowd fill. Kings fans were all out from the start, the cheering rampant and keeping as high and loud as possible for as long as possible. Fantastic atmosphere, let down though by the shoddy choice in constant music blaring over the heads.
Wollongong where never really even in the game. Their defence was tight on the first half, but their offense was abysmal throughout. Not a lot of fight from the Hawks at all. Even with all the fouls going their way, it was a disappointing effort. They were absolutely trounced by the Kings. Killed by the end of the third quarter. No turning back, it was all done and out by the time the fourth quarter geared into its final eight minutes.
Frivolous shooting with the friend's digital camera didn't take into account the flashing red light on the back, a death of batteries so instantly ignored. Well beyond the time of what would later become the fluttering shiny confetti and streamers from the air. Queen made their expected appearance over the waves, their anthemic songs always a staple at sports finals. Memories lost into the mind, captives are not these, sharing a figure hard to deliver.
Kings defeat Hawks with a slow end score of 112 - 85. Kings take out game three of the NBL Championships and make history by claiming the third successive title in the existence of the league. The Lion also gets to finish off his career on that three-peat high. Brilliant.
