Live and Become

Popcorn

Once again after freak circumstances, another quality film with nothing but the feel of subtitles. Against the back drop of it all, nothing too untoward. The swap and change in audible languages, however, the major sticking point. Thankfully, the major tongue settles on French. Or at least what sounds like French.

Constant fear of sudden death hangs over this rather beautiful film and it's not like there isn't reason to. Live and Become is the journey of a young Sudanese boy posing as a Jew and all the mess that happens to be in such a dubious situation of identity.

Romance and the heart feature, the delivery a fine touch just there on jealousy but before the psychotic break. What an ending too, the kind that leaves a small band of goers debating issues well into one fifth of the night.
