It would have been a hard fought battle with shadow smear campaigns, water bombs of deceit and general anesthetic, but seeing as though I was the only candidate for the Publications Officer for the SRC I think I have it in the bag. Shame then that I'm only going for the role as I'll be stuck at uni for another semester at least and I hope the last one I ever see. The position will hopefully allow me to try my hand at designing and editing a small run newspaper. The pity of it all is that anything I write for it won't be paid, unlike what I managed to earlier in the year. Why didn't anyone contest the position? Maybe it's that very fact.
The half slashed cover of Women's Weekly noted a competition unlike anything I have seen before this half of the year. The task is to pen a 3000-5000 word story where the central character is a woman. The theme can range anything from murder/mystery to romance and drama. The first prize is a nice whopping twenty thousand dollars with published runners-up pocketing three thousand dollars. Entries close sometime in April next year. The only thing I need is a vague plot and great dialogue. That challenge is mine!
The plot is going to kill my efforts.
