Counting back and all over the stacks, preliminary numbers of comics calling in unread rack up a neat and round mark of fifty. Sweat building on the fingertips warps easy the covers of the two holding up on the outside. Baboon grip on the entire monster's guts teetering on one wrong move sure to send the stack a flapping. Small chunks and bites are what's needed.
Sonic, Sonic, Sonic. What a player! Lazy eyes and all, so very sly with the ladies. Obviously out of character for the little hedgehog, the pick up from the previous issue is hardly there. Straight into the mess of the Doppelganger from another dimension. Short and choppy like eggs beaten within an inch but not far enough for proper fluff.
Mysterious humanoid dishing out the street justice looks like Wesley Gibbons in get up garb from Wanted. Mayor Hundred hits up the jury duty duties and the writing continues to crack out a pace with the art doing so much to freeze those moments in time.
Though there can be hardly any mistaking of shadows and faces of the Kingpin, a reveal of another old underground figure falls down from the lack of memory. Whatever the big moment may have been is lost when it's another mob man. Spider-Man seems to be winning over the life stakes when up against Peter Parker. Two lives entwined and the maypole is Mary Jane. Solid argument from Spidey on fighting the good fight and leaving to dust his love life. Shame he can't figure out a way to keep both. Though being only 15-years-old could be a problem.
And they swear in Chinese, with no help for those who cannot read the glyphs. Oh the coy play on censorship! A fine and rollicking kick-out-the-jams run as the Serenity crew barely make it off the world alive and poorer for their efforts. The comic has speed, energy and dollops of wit.
What's not to like about a sacrilegious tale of a smokin', sexin' and wrasslin' Pope? Hail thee the Pontiff unafraid to thwart demons with his own blood soaked hands. Nothing but fun and hilarity with dirty and rough-around-the-edges-looking art work.
