Broadway to Circular Quay on foot is slightly more than a standard walk of sixty tight minutes. With wandering feet finding a few detours of scant seconds, the minutes find themselves slipping away faster and faster. Sweat collects even faster than the time allowed, and there is nothing but a taste of salt with the concession stand out of hours.
Three seconds to spare, Mrs Henderson Presents is a film that continues a fixation on musical comedy and picks up on the world war flavour last seen onscreen in Joyeux Noel.
Delightfully humourous on the first bend, with a fantastic score of scores, the film later on presents the sombre and bleak reality of the situation. One that sits alongside the frivolity and joy that comes from the variety of nude revues and vaudeville at the Old Windmill Theatre.
