Nightman: Pilot - Part Two

After the intrusion of tennis on the late night television schedule I find myself amazed at the timing of it all. The men's finals was supposed to have been played on Sunday, rain delayed it, that meant the comeback of Nightman was affected. Bittersweetness prevailed and the show cameback straight after the ceremony.

Last episode had Johnny and Roley dumped into the river after having just acquired the supercop gear. Straight into the next episode and the costume is hastily put together into a cohesive element. Suspicious this is. Carla Day, Johnny's long-time girlfriend, is kidnapped when one of the sellers clues onto his snatching of the outfit. Johnny does the Total Recall "you think this is the real me?" thing and rushes off, since this is a serial they reused the film of suiting up. Quite possibly the suit is symbiotic as the fingers meld and morph into gloved form. Of course, the long hair isn't tucked away under the mask, just looking at Nightman will tell you who it is, it's like Thor or Woody.

The new caped wonder doesn't explicitly christen himself but the villians talk of him as a regular nuisance. The Nightman team latch onto the fact that the dude moving it all around with money and secrets—or at least is playing a big part—can't be touched due to diplomatic immunity. Corny standoff as Nightman "very good" to the upheld briefcase and "very bad" to the henchmen drawing fire. With a zap of the neutron gun, taken from thugs earlier, they're gone. A laser eye beam to heat and melt the cash case carried by Chan. Seems the suit's operations and feel has become second nature, especially since there has not been any testing of it.

A "no one should have this power" prompts the rigidly flying Nightman to just dump the gun into the river. Chan gratingly gets off on account of his diplomatic immunity. All this and Johnny makes it back to the House of Soul just in time to deactivate the hologram. A woman who wants to take him out of the picture—who in the first episode wanted the whole tram car taken out—is taken out herself by an animatronic tarantula. The spider is fake, but the venom is real. Circular as it ends on the same song the series started off with. Someone to watch over me. Here's hoping it is better than The Adventures of Conan and Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
