On The Edge of Bat Country

There's this little thing about how if a bird lands one on your shoulder, it's a sign of good luck. Good luck coming in the fact that it missed hitting your head.

Decided to walk home from a 21st while everyone else headed their way on wheeled metallic boxes. Halfway home, just past an auctioned lot which houses a few planks of wood up for rent, a rustling in the trees made their way into the night air.

Ducking and bolting made no real discernable difference as the bat flew above head and a soft wetness was felt on the back of the head. Hit, targeted from above and struck with full bomber force. Felt the back of the blue top—which at this point was going on four months without a wash—and it too was struck a little wet. That damned bat managed to score a twofer. Lucky shooter. At least now that top will go for a wash with vengeance. One day out from Friday 13th.
