Second Round of Silver

Nothing

Three years have already passed on the first silver driver licence. Four years have passed since being behind the wheel of a car. It's a good thing the RTA insist only on an eyesight test for licence renewals. All manner of changes occurred to the look of the licence itself. It's obvious someone's taken their graphic skills to the new design.

Where once there was a single and medium photo there is now a huge mug, reflected on the opposite side with a smaller one. The name is printed twice on the card, one above the address and one just under the huge chin. The wattle—state floral emblem of NSW—takes up an ever bigger chunk of the plastic.

The holographic aspect of the older licences have been upped and amped to a near ridiculous level. Any and every angle it's seen at shoots back a little bit of a multicoloured spectrum.

Walking in the harsh prepubescent gale force winds toward the registry was supposed to have a drying effect on the skin. Unfortunately the result was a little bit of gloss on the skin, gloss that will now be there for the next three years.

But here's a tip on taking slightly better pose photos. Throw water on the face, wash some of the sweat away and let the wind cool it down and the result should be a nice matte finish. Don't forget to raise the head a little to avoid shadows.

Unless it's the desired effect.

Ghoulish.
