On Family Fun Drive, off Highway 27, and where the warming sun is good only if the sleeves don't stick. But stick they do as the wife knocks par again and again separating the scores on the card farther apart on each hole. Mini-golf at Somerset Falls Family Park before the latter part of the day with a sound beating in the now.

Gradual trek of holes to the nineteenth
Quiet in the early afternoon ahead of the wane into an early evening of calmer weather. Lone operator playing up big on the stereo, grooving and relaxing in the shade of the shack. Not another putter on the course. No other golf balls putting along.
A battle of the dimples as blue versus pink. Reality unveils the scene to be of pink slogging hard numbers as blue finds the edges of the course more than the actual pins. Time and heat in the raw outdoors, sweating in a marathon of patience, all for naught on geometry. Plenty on bogies double and triple.
Short holes on fake carpet with few obstacles beyond boulders and bricks. No slow down on the pace of losing at yet another hole. Greens are shocking in all shades, the rainbow of tones bright, dull and in-between. Calming atmosphere in the throngs of putt-putt. Relaxing with sweaty brows.
Gentle slope to the end for the spinner wheel of indeterminable prizes. Quick spot of fun in the sun. Eyes and face feeling the folly of baking without sunscreen though. Touching up the temperature thankfully shy of the peeling stage. Though anything over 15 minutes is pushing the limits.

64 over 68 and it's a head in defeat
