The Bourne Identity

Student press from the unis in Sydney—Campbelltown inclusive—were invited to a private screening of The Bourne Identity. The location was the sixth level of the UIP building. The security guard at the door was a dope, the man let anybody walk past him. Didn't even need to really know what was going on to weasel past him and into the elevator. There was no sixth level on the panel, much like no 3rd level. Walking in as the last person to a room of other hack editors meant being faced with a smack of light alcohol in the air. There were only four rows of plush, clean seats. To the left of the holey screen there must have been some excellent toilet facilites as people constantly used them throughout the movie. In the front there was an old man who brought along his own food for the free screening. There was also another guy in the front, must have been one helluva cold person to laugh at one of the final scenes.

It surely was not a comedy yet the theatrette was was full of laughter. One involved an apartment in Paris and another with a stairwell. A very slick production, excellent moves all round, the car chase set under Paul Oakenfold's Ready Steady Go using the Mini was phenomenal. As soons as the credits rolled, the other student press from the state just bolted, without saying a word of thanks.

Ingrates.

The projectionist threw an odd look as he didn't expect anyone to be behind watching all of the credits. Of the hardest thing in the movie to understand was the regular intervals Julia Stiles' Nikki appearing, to what a friend timed to be 20 minutes apart and the everchanging accent of Potente's Marie.

The venue afterwards, a pub called P.J. O'Brien's was the scene wherein a blood vessel must have exploded near the right temple. Cool end to a great night.
