The State Library of NSW stands ever more gothic as it glows in the early dusk of spring. Bouncing about the traffic and street lights, there's this cool air of spookiness. And they hold books in these hallowed halls. Halls that squeak loudly with each rubbery step.
Short warning appears to be the form of late. Notifications from competition successes brace a day and no more. Presenting their brains and experiences on the writing process, a talk by three authors on the testing times following up their debut efforts.
The Dreaded Second Book.
As a result of shaving hours and hours of sleep off of each subsequent day, microsleep seeps in to the first twelve or fifteen minutes of their discourse. Anecdotes and tales about the trying times and test of their patience proving to be an informative and insightful night. Inspiration makes way for a little nugget of trepidation and snapping of the neck.
On having no clue as to who they are, or even of their respective works, the night flows outside the awe of celebrity. Attention is fixed on their words more than their manner, delivery of the message still lost in translation. Sleep is never enough on a short leash.
