The Olympics Logistics Centre

A couple of friends and I finally got around to checking out the Olympics Logistics Centre on Sunday. Kinda disorientating since the street numbers would start at 100, go all the way to 360 and reset themselves every time we crossed into another suburb, and all on the same road. When nearing the location it wasn't hard to miss. Cars were lined up all over the road, the sidestreets—of what little there were—were hogged end-to-end with similarly like minded people swayed by the promise that this would definitely be the last time the doors would be open. The commercial screamed and hollered insane buys such as five dollar furniture and clothing at two dollars.

Either we got there late or the ad was nothing but a ploy to bring us out into the middle of smog. There wasn't any five dollar gaslift chairs, in fact the chairs weren't even up to scratch, which many of them were - scratched that is. One chair was without the roller wheels and another was missing the back support. They didn't look like they'd been used for only the two weeks during the Olympics, they seemed like they were around even before Sydney started their bid for the five rings.

What drives someone to price loosely hinged cabinets, heavily battered desks and just general crap at two to three hundred dollars a piece? Of all the supposed bargains to be had at 350 Parramatta Road, Homebush, it would be the beds. Beds, beds, beds. Half of the remaining floor area was stacked four metres high with single bed mattresses. Mattresses I have, mattresses I didn't want.

When attending or walking up to some big event, pay close attention to the looks on the people who are exiting. They are the best indicators of what you'll expect. There were a lot of sad and disappointed faces yesterday. There's nothing there to bother your time with unless you're in dire need of mistreated furniture and beds. The quality shows.

The only thing I wanted to buy on the day was a fifteen dollar galvanised set of shelves my friend had at his house.
