The United States of Nothing

Distraction is possibly that of a familiar face in the audience. Familiar for only the feast of circles which ring around such events and theatrical undertakings. Absolutely no idea who, only the faint curvature of a profile and flaxen notice bearing a point in the memory.

Another spark of mulling lies in the matters of a writer's musings and whether or not a recognisable print name is in audience.

The United States of Nothing by Stephen Sewell, a satire with absolutely no chance of finding last minute replacements to fill a spot late into the day. Taking the events of Hurricane Katrina as a basis for the crucible boiling down the characters, it's a clear example of shadowy play.

Dislodging beads of sweat locating the fabric and logic of the production continue on and on, never hopeful enough. Flow is not forthcoming, a jutting point of conjecture and off putting as a whole.

Whatever is the playwright is trying to say about the state of disarray in the United States?
