Finally, the first sign of Mulder's body and it wasn't in another dream or image conjured by Scully. Last night's episode featured some kid chasing a UFO but finding the near-lifeless body of a woman. Later examination of her condition puts her in the "lucky to be barely alive" category. A mysterious figure in 9 and a half Nikes shapeshifts back and forth a few to whisk the woman away. While in his care she is miraculously healed without a single mark to show. Then we're introduced to what I consider the female Mulder, Monica Reyes. She smokes Morleys and almost crashes spotting a UFO, prime-time for a little profanity. Jeremiah Smith, the dude with the Nikes—also known as the alien healer—is called out by Scully, then we see Mulder's—presumably—lifeless body. She runs out, runs back but is too late as the alien has taken a trip.
The most disturbing thing I can think of about the whole season up to now are the little screen displays showing location information. It may just be my imagination but they've changed slightly since the end of season seven. The font used in the eighth season seems to be a little wider and with either pointier or more profound serifs. The colour of the type seems to also be a little hazy, or it could just be the fact that they're thinner. That, to me, is the real mystery; what's with my fascination with the font? Dead or alive—probably alive since he's got some more episodes to do and you really can't have a corpse with you all the time driving the stories and expecting credibility—Mulder's back.
